This song and scene does a great job at kinda making the audience feel bad for Dorothy and making the mood feel a little more gloomy. Of course this changes as she goes meets the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. While I’m aware the production is quite infamous, the movie’s still a masterpiece, that’s for sure!

Really "somewhere over the rainbow" is heaven, if you analyze it consciously.

This is a classy version that is very respectful of the original. Not suggesting it is better in anyway but I really like it. This singer has an amazing voice. Judy was a contralto, while Sohyang is a soprano. Ever since I was little, this song is dear to my heart, Then one day I told my mom that I was from another state, I was so small I wonder how did I come up with such a story. As I grew up my life was wishing on a star to be over that rainbow. My mother and I traveled to see the famous red shoes. Years passed by, my mother passed on and then a couple of years pass on by and I find myself traveling so far away to a place where I found bluebirds fly and trouble do melt away like lemon drops. Now that is where I am and you can find me over the rainbow. Thank You Wizard of Oz
